The Fast Food Chicken War Intensifies After Popeyes Releases New Chicken Nuggets

The fast food chicken war kicked up a notch this month as Popeyes announced the launch of their new chicken nuggets.

More from Delish.com:

It’s time to ring the alarm, y’all, because today is the day you have been waiting for. Popeyes is finally giving us all what we’ve been waiting for: Their own version of chicken nuggets!

If you happened to miss their announcement last week letting folks know that they were coming, the new release will be similar to that of the chain’s chicken tenders, meaning they’ll be made with seasoned white meat chicken breast pieces that have been hand-battered, breaded in buttermilk, and finished with a dip in some hot oil. The result? A crisp and golden palate-pleasing finish that’ll taste both familiar and brand-new. Mmm, mmm, mmm!

Popeye’s has had some memorable product launches in the past, not all of them good. When it jumped into the chicken sandwich war, there were some locations that had very long lines and product shortages that lead to violence.

From TMZ:

Fights have erupted all over the place with the reintroduction of the Popeyes chicken sandwich, and one altercation left a 28-year-old man dead.

The man waiting in line at Popeyes in Prince George’s County, Maryland Monday night was involved in an altercation when either someone cut in front of him or he cut in front of someone else. They started fighting and it ended outside the chicken joint with the 28-year-old getting stabbed. He died at the hospital.

Let’s hope the new chicken nugget launch will be far lee eventful.
